In celebration of Recovery Month this September, the Umbrella Society and New Roads Recovery (Our Place Society) are joining forces to present a revitalized and dynamic event focused on recovery. Recovery Day Victoria 2024 (RDV’24) will take place on Saturday, September 21st, at Central Park in Victoria, BC. This event marks the return of recovery celebrations to the province’s capital, the first since 2018. RDV’24 will be a free, family-friendly, and inclusive event, designed to be a substance-free space where individuals, families, friends, and communities affected by substance use disorders and addiction can come together. The event will celebrate those who have achieved recovery, offer hope to those currently struggling, and honor the journey of recovery. Event activities will include a variety of entertainment options such as live music and comedy on the main stage. Attendees can enjoy food trucks, a marketplace for vendors, and a resource area featuring substance use and recovery services. There will also be a 4-on-4 street hockey tournament, a “Family Fun Zone” inflatable park for kids and families, a kids and family stage with special entertainers, crafting and face painting, and more. This event represents a new beginning and the start of an annual tradition that will demonstrate that recovery is possible for everyone, and that there is life beyond addiction. |
